IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Richard
Bilotta
August 12, 1941 – September 14, 2023
Pawleys Island:
Joseph Richard Bilotta, affectionately known as Grandpop, Pa and Sonny peacefully
passed away on September 14, 2023, at the age of 82 in Pawleys Island, SC. Born on
August 12, 1941, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of Serafino
Bilotta and Angelina Turrisi. Joe grew up alongside his siblings, Marianne McDonald and
Bob Bilotta, creating cherished memories and lifelong bonds. On March 15, 1964, he
entered into a loving marriage with his devoted wife, Mary Alice Eidsvold. Together, they
created a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.
Sports played a huge role in Joe's life. He played football at the University of North
Dakota and remained an avid sports enthusiast throughout his life. He loved golfing with
his friends, playing poker, corn hole, attending Giants games and racing his red corvette.
His greatest delight was watching his grandchildren run, swim, golf, play soccer and
field hockey.
Joe found solace and strength in his faith, and his commitment to his religious values shone
through his involvement with All Saints Church where he served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister.
He was most proud of his role as Matthew in the recreation of The Last Supper.
His achievements were numerous, but it was his kindness, sense of humor, and
captivating stories that truly set him apart. Joe brought laughter into every room he
entered, made everyone feel like family, and left a lasting impact on everyone he
encountered.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, and their three daughters and spouses: Stacy
and Gavin Gaynor, Kristin and Rick Reichardt, and Jodie and Frank D'Ariano. His legacy
lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Justin, Gavin, Lauren, Drew, Riley, Ryan,
Landon, and Reese.
The loss of Joe leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness,
generosity, and faith and love for his family and friends will be deeply missed. Joe
considered being a husband, father and grandfather his greatest accomplishments. He
was the best girl dad long before it was a thing. He was blessed with the gift of gab and
could find something in common with everyone he met. We know heaven gained
another angel and we know he is eating spaghetti and meatballs and talking everyone's
ears off.
A funeral service will be held September 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm at All Saints Church,
officiated by Rob Graff. A reception will be held immediately after the service where
friends and family can gather to pay their respects and share fond memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Jude's
www.stjude.org or Shriners Hospital https://donate.lovetotherescue.org in Joe's honor.
May his spirit continue to guide and inspire us all as we remember and celebrate the remarkable life of
Joseph Richard Bilotta.
Thank you to friends and family who were kind and gracious during this difficult time.
"If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again"
"Say not in grief 'he is no more' but in thankfulness that he was."
The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with the
care of Joe by the Bilotta Family.
