Georgetown:
Joseph Franklin Westbrook, Jr., 87, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Westbrook was born n Newton Grove, N. C. on July 31, 1917, a son of the late Joseph Franklin Westbrook and Alberta Bizzell Westbrook. He grew up in Newton Grove, graduated from high school there, and attended Wake Forest College. Mr. Westbrook moved to Georgetown in 1954 as General Manager of West Chevrolet-Oldsmobile, Inc. He later became President and General Manager of Westbrook Chevrolet-Oldsmobile, Inc., which he operated until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Westbrook was a past Board Member of the S. C. Automobile Dealers Assn.
Mr. Westbrook was an active and devoted member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He served the church in a number of capacities including as an Administrative Board member, a Pastor-Parish Relations Committee member, and a Church School Teacher. Mr. Westbrook was also a member of Winyah Lodge #40, AFM and Omar Shrine Temple. He has been a member of the Georgetown Lions Club since 1955 and was instrumental with the formation of the Pawley's Island Lions Club.
Mr. Westbrook was a much loved husband, father, and grandfather. He was also an avid golfer and fishermen and loved people.
Surviving are: his wife, Dorothy Herring Westbrook of Georgetown; two sons, William Franklin Westbrook and his wife Gloria of Georgetown and Douglas Herring Westbrook and his wife Frances of Charleston; a grandson, Douglas Herring Westbrook, Jr. of Charleston, and a step-granddaughter, April McEntire of Columbia.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Friday morning, May 13, 2005, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Thursday evening, May 12, 2005 from six until eight.
