Georgetown ~

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Joshua Brandon Ackerman Sr., 40, on August 22, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born on December 25, 1984, in Georgetown, SC, Joshua is the son of Roger Dale Ackerman Sr. and Beverly Lynn Hemrick Ackerman and stepmother Sandra K. Ackerman.

Joshua worked with the Georgetown County Facility Department. He was a great carpenter. Joshua was an avid outdoorsman and water skier. His activities included everything with water. He loved fishing with his family in the North Inlet. He would fish, shrimp and look for the best oyster beds.  Joshua liked to draw, loved animals, and helped others.  Joshua was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of this year. The cancer was aggressive and took him too soon. He will be missed by his family.

Joshua was a loving, caring father to his children, son Joshua Brandon Ackerman Jr., and daughter Skylar Amelia Ackerman.

He is also survived by his brother, Christopher Jason Ackerman, a sister, Misty Bogan Sanders (Travis), stepsister Natasha Perkins (Jason), a special friend "Dixie Marie Bryant", mother of his children, Jessica Ethridge, and two nieces.

Joshua was predeceased by his brother, Roger Dale Ackerman Jr., his mother, Beverly Lynn Hemrick.

The family will receive friends from 1:00–2:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the Maryville Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home located at 2200 South Fraser St. Georgetown, SC. Funeral Services will follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Johnny Poston.
