Andrews:
Josie Strickland Barnes, wife of the late Michael Owen Barnes passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Horry County on November 22, 1955, a daughter of the late Arthur Strickland and Margaret Anderson Vereen.
Josie grew up in Conway and graduated from Conway High School. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Barnes had a great love for animals know matter which kind, but her most favorite were her dogs. Her most wonderful time of day was in the morning when she would get her coffee and go to her puzzle table and spend time doing puzzles, which she did extremely well. Josie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a wonderful friend to all who knew her.
Surviving are: a son, Devin Chestnut (Ashley) of Andrews; a brother, Charlie Ellis (Fannie) and a sister, Nancy Booth (Buddy) both of Conway; an adopted daughter, Jacqueline Chestnut (Neil) of Andrews; three grandchildren, Roger Chestnut, II (Amanda) of Cedar City, UT, Josey Ann Chestnut (Cody) , and Ariel Chestnut (Mark Brandon) both of Andrews; eight great-grandchildren and one due on October 8, 2022.
Funeral Services will be two o'clock Monday, July 18, 2022, at Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Officiating will be The Rev. Steve Gardner and the Rev. Chuck Cribb.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening July 17, 2022, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home from five until seven.
