Georgetown:
Judith "Judy" Annette Cox, 81, died Saturday evening, February 2, 2019, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Judy was born in Conway on November 1, 1937, a daughter of the late Robert Floyd Cox and Jessie Mae Smith Cox. She graduated from Winyah High School and received a BS Degree in music from East Carolina University where she was percussion major. After college she studied and played double bass. Judy taught band and orchestra at Hand Middle School in Columbia, for many years, then returned to Georgetown and taught music at Sampit Elementary School. Judy was a member of Duncan United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and was a Master Gardener, she also loved the outdoors, bird watching and kayaking.
Surviving are: a sister, Lynda L. "Lynn" Cox and her cousins, Catherine Creson (Gary), Arnold Smith (Kathy), Scott Smith, Steve Smith (Jane) and Carol Gay.
Memorial Services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, February 6, 2019, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday in the church parlor from ten until eleven o'clock.
