Pawley's Island:
Julia Hammond Canter, 85, died in her sleep in Lynchburg, Va. on Friday, July 16, 2004 at 7:10 p.m.
Mrs. Canter was born in Niagara Falls, N. Y. on January 3, 1919 to Helen and Ralph Ballard Hammond. She graduated from Loretto Academy for Girls in Ontario, Canada and attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. for two years. She raised four children, was a talented artist and seamstress, an excellent bridge player, and adored the game of golf. She had a wonderful sense of humor and possessed great wisdom that all who knew her will miss very much.
Mrs. Canter is survived by: four children, G. Andrew (Andy) Agett and Albert H. (Chip) Agett of Blountville, Tenn. and Gail A. Cooler and Jamie A. Maness of Roanoke, Va.; six grandchildren, Michael Agett, Tim Agett, Elizabeth (Beth) A. Denton, Courtney G. Carpenter, Wilson Ligon, and Michele Donnelly; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth H. Andres of Stowe, Vt. and Elizabeth (Dibby) Bos of Chestertown, Md.; as well as many friends at Daybreak of Heritage Green in Lynchburg. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hyman E. Canter of Pittsburgh, Penn. and North Litchfield Beach.
The funeral will be four o'clock Sunday afternoon, July 18, 2004, at Old All Saints Church, Waccamaw in Pawley's Island. Officiating will be the Rev. David C. Bryan. Burial will follow in the Churchyard.
