Obituary

Andrews: Karin Elizabeth Armstrong Harper, 78, wife of Samuel "Sambo" J. Harper died January 27, 2021, at her residence. Mrs. Harper was born July 8, 1942, in Silver Hill, Alabama, a daughter of the late Donald Beverly Armstrong, Sr. and Lucile Emma Russell Armstrong. In 1960, Karin graduated from Mt. Zion Institute High School in Winnsboro, South Carolina. She attended Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina and graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. She taught school for 28 years and was a Future Business Leaders of America Sponsor for many years. Karin retired from Andrews High School in 2002. Karin and Sambo celebrated 54 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons and six grandchildren. When her children were young, she was very active with the Boy Scouts, Recreation Department, and loved going to cheer her Clemson Tigers on to victory in Death Valley. Karin loved the outdoors, especially working in her beautiful flower beds and walking the shores of the ocean looking for shells. She was a blessing to all who knew her and she never met a stranger. Karin dearly loved her family and spending time telling stories of her childhood. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church where she served as an Eucharistic Minister. Another one of her great joys was loving on her pups! Karin is now in her eternal home with Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, Karin was predeceased by: a brother, Donald "Donnie" B. Armstrong, Jr.; Parents-in-Law, Samuel and Ann Harper; two Brothers-in-Law, Donald A. Harper and Walter J. Harper. Surviving are: her husband of Andrews; two sons, Samuel "Stephen" Harper (Lori) of Andrews and Philip A. Harper (Maggie) of Kingstree; a sister, Sheila A. Hutto (Jimmy) of Mt. Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Karen P. Armstrong of Pawleys Island; six grandchildren, Carlynn Harper, Hollis Harper, Samuel "Sloan" Harper, Caleb Harper, Emma Harper, and Ben Harper. Three sisters-in-law, Clara H. Sneed of Florida, Elizabeth H. Sanders (David) of Florence and Marsha M. Harper of Greenville; Two brothers-in-law, Martin Harper (Linda) of Georgetown and David Harper (Tina) of Andrews; numerous nieces and nephews. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery, January 30, 2021, at one o'clock, The family will receive friends Friday evening at Trinity United Methodist Church Family Life Center from five until seven. Due to Covid-19, social distancing will be practiced and facemasks are required. Memorials may be sent to Randy Brown Memorial Scholarship 302 S. Beech Avenue, Andrews SC 29510.
