Georgetown:
Katherine Elizabeth "Kit" Siau Carter, 67, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at MUSC Hospital in Charleston.
Mrs. Carter was born in Beaufort on October 25, 1946, a daughter of the late Herman McGilvray Siau and Sara Gray Wilson Siau. She grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School and the University of S.C. Mrs. Carter was a retired school teacher, and taught school at Rosemary Middle School, Howard High School, and Winyah Academy. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a long-time choir member and performed many solos for weddings.
Surviving are: her husband, Robert Ashley Carter of Georgetown; a daughter, Liza Carter Young (Lewis) of Georgetown; a son, Rob Carter (Kristen) of Georgetown; and six grandchildren, Ashley Katherine Young, Henry L. Young, IV, Madison M. Carter, Nixon G. Carter, E. Beleu Carter, and R. Knolls Carter. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was predeceased by a sister, Sara S. "Candy" Doll.
Funeral services will be held at three o'clock on Sunday afternoon, October 19, 2014, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, October 18, 2014, at the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from six until eight o'clock.
