Georgetown:
Kathryn Bryan Metts died peacefully at home on October 22, 2006 after a brief illness with cancer. Born in Graham, NC on November 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Curry Edward Bryan, Jr. and Irma Wrightenberry Bryan.
She is survived by her three sons: Carey G. Metts, IV and wife Andi of Burlington, N.C., Bryan M. Metts and wife Beverly of Burlington, N.C., and Adam M. Metts of Atlanta, GA.; three grandchildren: Kathryn, Caroline, and Grey Metts; former husband Carey G Metts, III; brothers Curry E. Bryan, III and wife Ren, William K. Bryan and wife Susan; a sister: Hope Bryan, and Martin, her faithful dog. She was preceded in death by a sister, Leigh Bryan Counts.
Kathy was a well known Low Country artist best remembered for her watercolor and pastel paintings of whimsical beach houses, marsh views, and interior scenes. Her love for art started at a young age and she was selected to attend the North Carolina Governor's School for the Arts (1964). She earned a B.A. in Art at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (1976).
After raising her three sons, Kathy re-dedicated her career to art. She was a member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society, the Georgetown Watercolor Society, and the Winyah Arts Association. She was a multiple award winning artist. Her art has been exhibited in numerous invitational and juried shows throughout South Carolina and North Carolina. Kathy's paintings have been on exhibit in locations as far away as Bois- Colombes, France.
In addition to her art, she had a wonderfully enriched life with her children, her grandchildren, friends, and the community. She was loved for her genuinely happy spirit, robust love of life, and her caring nature.

The family will receive friends at 315 Queen Street, Georgetown, S.C., on Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a casual memorial.
A memorial event is also being planned on Saturday November 4, 2006 in Burlington, NC. The time and place will be announced at a later date.
The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
