Andrews:
Kaye B. Tims, 54, passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 28th. She was a resident of Andrews, where she taught school for 28 years, most of which were at Andrews Elementary. Kaye had been living with cancer for the past three years.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 32 years, Clark, daughter Kathryn, sons Mark and Will, mother Kathryn Bird and mother-in-law Margie Tims. Buddy and Noel will miss her deeply as well.
"Mama Kaye" was an amazing person who had a profound impact on everyone who knew her. Her generosity and genuine concern for others knew no bounds. She was full of life and enriched the lives of those around her.
Between teaching hundreds of children at school over the years and being the mother of three herself, Kaye found the time to go to PTA meetings, car pool half the neighborhood, cook Sunday dinner, get her Master's degree, throw parties at the river house, drive to Maine and the Grand Canyon with Clark, never miss a shopping trip, and to celebrate every holiday, birthday and special occasion with child-like enthusiasm.
She also became a speaker and advocate for cancer awareness through "Relay for Life," where she helped others learn from her experience. After her distinguished retirement from teaching, the Kaye B. Tims Character Award was established at Andrews Elementary to honor outstanding students. As a wife, mother, friend and teacher, she was one a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning, October 30, 2003, at Trinity United Methodist Church at eleven o'clock. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. Steven M. Todd and The Rev. Paul Miles. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Baptist Churchyard.
The family suggests memorials to: Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, S.C. 29440, or to American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, S.E. Division, Inc., Georgetown County Unit, P.O. Box 100902, Columbia, S.C. 29290-9002.
