Andrews:
LaJean Barrineau Owens Kinder, 82, wife of Dr. Jack D. Kinder and widow of Walter Hazard Owens, Jr., passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown.
Mrs. Kinder was born in Georgetown February 6, 1934, a daughter of the late Carrol Theodore Barrineau, Sr. and Lizzie Ann B. Barrineau. She grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School. Mrs. Kinder retired as Payroll and Personnel Administrator after forty-seven years with Oneita Industries.
Mrs. Kinder was a member of First Baptist Church of Andrews and she loved her church and the Capers Alford Sunday School Class. She served her church as financial secretary for many years. Mrs. Kinder enjoyed helping with and maintaining the church property. She was active in the renovation of the Fellowship Hall of the Church.
Mrs. Kinder also helped with the building and support of Andrews Academy. She enjoyed working in her garden and shared her grapes with many. Mrs. Kinder was known for talking with her hands and talking to family and friends on the telephone. She was called affectionately "Mamma Two" by many friends and family.
Surviving are: four sons, Walter H. Owens, III (Melissa) and Joseph "Joey" Owens (Vicki) both of Andrews, Stephen Kinder of Hartsville, and Scott Kinder (Cristie) of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Walter, IV, Todd (Marsha), Jay, Lauri, and Logan Owens, Brandon Kinder (Danielle), Jordan Chestnut (Michael), Ryane Ferrell (David), and Lexie Mae Kinder; nine great-grandchildren, Keegan, Jackson, Kinley and Brighton Owens, Karson, Rivers, and Jones Kinder, and Mae Margaret and William Chestnut; a brother, Thomas "Tommy" Barrineau (Susan); four sisters, Gywnn B. Ward (Norris), Delaine B. Payne, Sonya B. McConnell and Rebecca B. Smith; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her first husband Mrs. Kinder is predeceased by: a brother, Carroll Barrineau, Jr.; and two sisters, Hazeline B. Morris and Bronte B. Scott.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Sunday, August 28, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Andrews. Officiating will be the Rev. Donald P. Sapp and the Rev. Mike Mills. Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
A viewing will be held in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Andrews Sunday, August 28, 2016, from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
The family will receive friends immediately following the burial at the cemetery.
