Obituary

Andrews: Laurie Melton Ard, 74, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. Mr. Ard was born in Williamsburg Co. near Andrews on July 4, 1941, a son of the late Wiley McLaurin Ard and Emma Casselman Ard. He grew up in the Rough Island Community near Andrews and lived most of his life there. He was the owner of Ard's Logging Company and a member of Gapway Hunting Club. Mr. Ard loved to play Bluegrass Music. Mr. Ard was predeceased by: brothers, Malcom Ard, Albert Ard, and Woodrow Ard, and sisters, Cora Ard and Janetta McCutcheon. Surviving are: wife, Cynthia Lee Ard of Andrews; two daughters, Sarah Lee Brown (Timmy) of Andrews, and Bridget Turner, (Steve) of Powder Springs, Ga.; a son, Lynwood Ard (Louise-Blondie) of Andrews; a sister, Tiny Port of Hemingway; five Grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be four o'clock Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2015, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Terry Dennis and the Rev. Randy Gamble.
