Andrews: Lawrence Manning Hamer, Jr., 59, died Friday, August 31, 2007, at the Ralph H. Johnson V. A. Medical Center in Charleston. Mr. Hamer was born in Greenville on August 23, 1948, a son of the late Lawrence Manning Hamer and Bonita Causey Hamer. He grew up in Murrells Inlet and graduated from Carlisle Military Academy in Bamberg. Mr. Hamer attended Spartanburg Junior College and The College of Charleston. He served in the Army with 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hamer was employed with Acceptance Insurance in Conway. Surviving are: a daughter, Helen Phoebe Hamer of Pawleys Island; his fiancé, Marcia Anderson of Andrews; three aunts, Martha Causey of N. Charleston, Betty DeVry of Torrance, Calif., and Jane Focarrazo of Fresno, Calif.; life long friend, Sam Hodges of Myrtle Beach; and a number of cousins. Arrangements are pending.
