Andrews:
Lawrence A. Smoak, 77, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown.
Mr. Smoak was born in Cordova, S.C. on September 15, 1927, a son of the late Hubert W. and Alma Smoak. He grew up in Cordova and lived in Georgetown for a number of years prior to moving to Andrews. Mr. Smoak retired from the Container Division of the International Paper Company after thirty nine years of employment. He was an active member of Earle United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men and was a former Trustee and Administrative Board member of the church.
Surviving are: his wife, Christine Taylor Smoak of Andrews; two sons, Roger L. Smoak and his wife Sheran of Georgetown, and Gary A. Smoak and his wife Christie of Dunn, N.C.; two daughters, Corliss S. Woodson and her husband Sam of Chester, and Pam S. Mooneyham and her husband Ray of Sumter; a brother, Walker M. Smoak of Orangeburg; four sisters, Vivian S. Stamps of Orangeburg, Gertrude S. Mack of Cordova, Llewellyn S. Fogle of Bamberg, and Barbara S. Martin of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; fourteen grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smoak was predeceased by a grandson, Craig Smoak.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon, March 8, 2005, at three o'clock at Earle United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. J. Robert Huggins and the Rev. Gary Adams. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery.
