Andrews: Leila Idell Avant Cox, 87, widow of Cleve Cox, went to meet her Savior on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at her daughter's residence in the Big Dam community of Georgetown County. Mrs. Cox was born in Andrews on December 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Daniel Gleave Avant and Lila Lee Casselman Avant. She grew up in the Warsaw section of Andrews and was a retired employee of Oneita Knitting Mills. Mrs. Cox was of the Pentecostal faith. Surviving are: a son, Ronald J. Cox (Mary) of Andrews; four daughters, Florrie B. Cox and Darla L. Cox, both of Andrews, Patricia A. Cox of Hemingway, and Audrey S. Cox (Grover) of Ellerbe, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cox was predeceased by: a son, Rusty Lavon Cox; and a daughter, Shelby Cox. Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2011, at the Family Worship Center. Officiating will be the Rev. Murray Powell and the Rev. Robert Cromer. Burial will follow in Piney Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Family Worship Center prior to the service on Saturday from one until two o'clock.
