Georgetown: Levord "Leroy" Owens, 57, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Owens was born in Hemingway on November 28, 1946, a son of the late Veroe Alfred Owens and Eulla Mae Gayman Owens. He attended Berkeley County schools. Mr. Owens was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy for 17 years. He was a retired commercial fisherman. Surviving are: a son, Eddy Lee Owens of Atlanta, Ga.; a former wife, Carol Owens of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy O. Douglas of Hemingway and Margie O. Pope of Georgetown; four brothers, Veroe A. Owens, Jr. and Pearless G. Owens, both of Bonneau, Alton D. Owens of Hemingway, and Larry E. Owens of Georgetown; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Owens was predeceased by a brother, Fredrick W. Owens. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at three o'clock at the graveside at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be The Rev. C. W. Lofton.
