Andrews:
Lillian Irene Hicks Haselden, 93, widow of Willie Beckman Haselden, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Haselden was born in Pageland on January 27, 1921, a daughter of the late James Madison Hicks and Fannie Ada Pigg Hicks. She grew up in Pageland and graduated from Wingate College. Mrs. Haselden taught school for a year before going to work for an aircraft manufacturing company during World War II. She then became a life-long homemaker and was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Haselden was a member of Andrews Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to the Hannah-Herring Circle.
Surviving are: a daughter, Sharon Haselden Smith (James D. "Jimmy") of Andrews; a son, William B. "Bill" Haselden of Andrews; a daughter-in-law, Donna C. Haselden of Andrews; four grandchildren, James Scott Smith, Rebecca Smith Brennaman, Meri Ashley Haselden Wills, and William Blake Haselden; four great-grandchildren; a brother, James C. Hicks of Durham, N.C.; a sister, Billie F. Funderburk of Pageland; a sister-in-law, Lettie Mae H. Howell of Georgetown; and a brother-in-law, Louis Gordon Haselden of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be held on at eleven o'clock on Friday morning, May 23, 2014, at Andrews Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. William C. Stockton. Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, May 22, 2014, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock.
