Georgetown:
Lloyd Michael Young, Sr., 57, of the Yauhannah community of Georgetown Co., died Friday, November 3, 2006, in Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. after a short illness.
Mr. Young was born in Conway on August 2, 1949, a son of the late Henry Lewis "Doc" Young and Hazel West Young. He was a graduate of Winyah High School and attended North Greenville Junior College and Clemson University. Mr. Young was a logging contractor, the owner and President of Topsaw Land & Timber, Inc. He was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and of the church choir.
Surviving are: his wife, Deborah Spencer Young of Yauhannah; a daughter, Leslie Ann Young of Georgetown; three sons, Timothy Ryan Young of Yauhannah, Jonathan Adam "Jay" Young, of Georgetown, and Lloyd M. Young, Jr. of Conway; two sisters, Jacquolene Young-Gould of Pacific Palisades, Calif. and Donna Y. Thompson and her husband Darrell of Sumter; five brothers, H. L. "Hank" Young and his wife Ramona of Georgetown, Johnnie J. "Joe" Young and his wife Linda of Yauhannah, M. Lamar Young and his wife Sally of Atlanta, Ga., J. Larry Young and his wife Suzanne of North Litchfield Beach, and Deryl D. Young of Yauhannah; a number of nieces and nephews; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be one o'clock Tuesday afternoon, November 7, 2006, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill. Burial will follow in Topsaw Plantation Cemetery at Yauhannah.
