Laura Karoline Elmgren Perry "Lolly", 90, widow of James Durward Perry, died Friday, December 29, 2006, at her residence.
Mrs. Perry was born in Columbia on December 4, 1916, a daughter of the late Dr. Thor Aldoph Wilhelm Elmgren and Hannah Sylvan Elmgren. She grew up in Columbia, graduated from Columbia High School, and attended college there. After Mrs. Perry's marriage to the late James Durward Perry in 1939, they lived in Chicago then New York City. They settled in Georgetown in 1940. She was a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church.
Surviving are: a daughter, Anna P. Rion and her husband Samuel W. Rion, Jr. of Georgetown; a son, James D. Perry, Jr. and his wife Sandra W. Perry of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Mary E. Jessel of Columbia; four grandsons, Samuel W. Rion, III "Tripp" of Chicago, Ill., H. Wilhelm Rion "Wil" of Charleston, James D. Perry, III "Jimmy" of Mt. Pleasant, and Robert D. Perry "Bobby" of James Island; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Perry was predeceased by: four brothers, Dr. Luther B. Elmgren, T. A. W. Elmgren, Jr. , Emile S. Elmgren, and David O. Elmgren; and two sisters, Addie B. McAtee and Hannah E. Lux.
Memorial services will be private.
A Celebration of Lolly Perry's life will be held Saturday, January 6, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at her residence.
