Lonita Merle Parsons Jordon Ward, 95, widow of Woodrow Ward, died August 27, 2017, at her daughter residence.
Mrs. Ward was born in Andrews on July 19, 1922, a daughter of the late Lewis Andrew Parsons and Covan Hortense Haselden Parsons. She was the youngest of eleven children. Mrs. Ward went to Andrews Public School and then attended Williamsburg High School. She was first married to the late William Jordon for forty three years and had a daughter. Mrs. Ward worked for Oneita Knitting Mills for many years and later worked for Parsons Nursery. She loved working with flowers and going fishing. Mrs. Ward was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church.
Surviving are: a daughter, Charlotte J. Hull (Craig) of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Gloria Bohl (Andy) of Kay Largo, FL and Gordon Craig Hull, Jr. of Narragansett, RI; two great-grandchildren, Patrick W. Hull and Aislynn G. Hull; and a number of step-children, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Ward is predeceased by: five brothers, Albert, Lewis, Victor, Claude and Clifford Parson, and five sisters, Vivian P. McKenzie, Reba P. Benford, Evelyn Mixon, Virginia McCants and Grace P. Benford.
Funeral Services will be two o'clock Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Screven Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Daryl Tanner and Rev. Jo Anna Fallow. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday in the church sanctuary from one until two o'clock.
