Louise "Jill" Colbert Caviness

Louise “Jill” Colbert Caviness, 88, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on August 3, 2026, in Norwalk, Connecticut. Born in Georgetown, she was the daughter of the late George Ashley Colbert and Mary Virginia (Boatwright) Colbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lynn Caviness, Sr., and her siblings, George Ashley Colbert, Jr. and Virginia Colbert Ford. 

She lived a full life surrounded by her children and grandchildren she adored. She loved spending summers at Pawleys Island, traveling with her children to National Parks and European destinations. She became an avid supporter of Georgia Tech athletics, attending season after season of football and basketball games. 

Jill is survived by her children, Lewis Lynn Caviness, Jr. and his wife, Kareen Jamillah Belza of Bronx, New York; George Branson Caviness and his wife, Elizabeth Cronin Caviness of Chatham, NJ; Charles Bryan Caviness and his wife, Cristina Elena Caviness of Rowayton, CT; and daughter Mary Roberta Caviness of Sandy, Utah; grandchildren, Madeleine Xiaoen Caviness (Raleigh, NC), Katherine Anne Caviness and Caroline Ashley Caviness (Chatham, NJ), and Thomas Carter Caviness and Theodore Colbert Caviness (Rowayton, CT), and her much beloved fur baby, Henny Penny. 

Special thank you to her neighbors, Jim and Sue Boykin, and family friends Doug and Tammy Dean for all that you did for her, allowing her to thrive in her independence and enjoy her favorite pastimes. 

The family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in the Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home, 222 St. James St., Georgetown. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, also in the Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home, officiated by family friend Richard Smith, followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
