Louise Payton Crosby Matthews, 81, formerly of Andrews, died peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2011.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock. Funeral services will be held at Pine Crest Baptist Church in Andrews on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at eleven o'clock. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Matthews was born April 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Daniel M. Payton and Letia B. Dunn. She was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church, where she served in many positions for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Surviving are: three daughters, Evelyn Broome (Ernie), Patsy Morris (Michael) and Cindy Kozma; three sons, David Crosby (Katie), George D. Matthews, Jr. and Rodney Matthews (Wanda); a daughter-in-law, Diane Crosby; three sisters, Elizabeth Dooley, Peggy MeReady and Bobbie Butler; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by: her parents; husbands, Jaynes Swayne Crosby, Sr. and George D. Matthews, Sr.; a son, Swayne Crosby, Jr.; a brother, Daniel "Danny" Payton; and a grandchild, David E. Broome.
