Georgetown:
Louise Strickland McWhite, 76, died Sunday, November 30, 2003 at her residence.
Mrs. McWhite was born in Sarasota, Fla. on July 6, 1927, a daughter of the late Watson S. Strickland, Sr. and Edna Mae Bunn Strickland. She was a former employee of Mildred's and retired from the Southern Lady. Mrs. McWhite was a member and past Worthy Matron of The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #148.
Mrs. McWhite was an active member of Wayne United Methodist Church and the Church Choir. She was also a member and past president of the Esther Wayne Circle of the United Methodist Women and of the Curtis Bell Church School Class. Mrs. McWhite was a former church kindergarten teacher and a member of the church Piece Makers.
Surviving are: her husband, Grier C. McWhite, Jr. of Georgetown; two daughters, Martha M. Autry and her husband Virgil and Barbara L. McWhite, all of Irmo; a sister, Laura S. Kirkland and her husband Claude of Georgetown; a brother, W. Smith Strickland, Jr. of Columbia; a grandson, Kevin M. Autry and his wife Gayle of Easley; and granddaughter, Karen A. Lee and her husband Paul of Blythewood; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Autry and Wade Autry, both of Easley; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will two-thirty o'clock Tuesday afternoon, December 2, 2003, at Wayne United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. A. Stephen Holler and the Rev. Michael Leonhardt. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
