Obituary

Pawleys Island: Lt. Col. Robert Stuart Collins, Jr., 81, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at his residence. Lt. Col. Collins was born in Brevard N.C. on September 18, 1925, a son of the late Robert Stuart Collins and Elizabeth D. Fonvielle Collins. He grew up in Columbia and was a graduate of The Citadel and also earned a master's degree from the University of S.C. Lt. Col. Collins retired in 1971 after service in the Army during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He was a member of All Saints Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a Mason. Lt. Col. Collins was the widower of Catherine "Kitty" Adams Collins. Surviving are: a daughter, Betsy B. Collins of Chantilly, Va.; and several cousins. Memorial services will be one o'clock Friday afternoon, May 25, 2007, at the graveside in Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, N.C. Sign a guestbook at www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
