Mable Barnes Brown, 86, of Hartsville, SC, died April 24, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James L. Brown, her son and caregiver, Robert Brown, both of Hartsville, her son and daughter-in-law Edward and Deborah H. Brown, her daughter and son-in-law Anne Brown and Beau Smith, and two grandchildren, Dorian Brown and Julian Smith, all of Atlanta, GA. Her sister, Reba Cook, and two brothers, Malcolm Barnes and Liston Barnes are also deceased.
Mable Brown was born on May 1, 1921, to Robert Dudley Barnes and Carolyn Eliot Barnes in Rhems, SC. She attended the University of South Carolina. A wartime bride, she focused on homemaking and family while contributing to the household through her clerical and office management positions. She enjoyed bridge, gardening, ballroom dancing and caring for her family members as long as she was able to do so. Her sweet, loving ways and her sense of fun will be greatly missed.
Visitation from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 3rd will be held at Union United Methodist Church on Rose Hill Road in Georgetown County, SC. Services will follow at Union Methodist Church on Saturday, May 3rd at 2:00 pm. Her family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers in memory of Mable Brown to either Wesley Chapel, P.O.
