Obituary

Pawleys Island: Margaret Louise Wilton Smucker, 90, widow of Richard Allen Smucker, died Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Lakes of Litchfield. Mrs. Smucker was born in Belding, Mich. on January 10, 1921, a daughter of the late Dr. Orvie Nathan Wilton and Marie Austin Reed Wilton. She was a Registered Nurse and graduated in 1943 from Butterworth Hospital Nursing School in Grand Rapids, Mich. Mrs. Smucker also lived in Pittsburgh, Pa. before moving to Wedgefield Plantation in Georgetown in 1984 and Pawleys Island in 2004. She was an avid golfer and belonged to Wedgefield Country Club. She and her husband enjoyed travel in the U. S. and abroad. Mrs. Smucker was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Surviving are: a daughter, Susan Kaufman-Dean (Tim) of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a son, Rand R. Smucker (Maribeth) of Murrieta, Calif.; a former son-in-law, Dennis E. Kaufman of Westerville, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Carolyn M. Kaufman of New Albany, Ohio, Steve Kaufman (Elisa) of Westerville, Ohio, Amy B. Kaufman of Minneapolis, Minn., and Hannah C.
