Margaret "Peggy" Emma Thomas, 84, passed away quietly at four o'clock on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Peggy was born in Georgetown on September 3, 1926 to the late William Henry Thomas, Sr. and Emma Beaty Thomas. After completing her education at Winyah High School, she attended Winthrop College and received a degree in Business Education. Immediately after graduation, she went to work at International Paper Company Container Division, where she worked until retirement. Peggy was a great lover of animals, particularly "her cats," and volunteered for many years at St. Frances Humane Society. She was a lifelong member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for a number of years.
Peggy is survived by: a brother, William H. Thomas, Jr. (Miriam); four nephews, W. H. Thomas, III (Ginger), Robert B. Thomas, David B. Thomas and Stevie Thomas; a great-nephew, Capt. Beaty Thomas (Angela); a great-niece, Lora Thomas; and a dear friend, Barbara Morgan.
Memorial services will be at eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, April 16, 2011, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Edward G. Usher. A reception will follow the service in the church Family Life Center. Inurnment will be private.
