Margie R. McCants, 88, died Monday, July 17, 2023 at her home in Andrews.
She was the daughter of the late Willie Francis Ray and Daisy Benton Ray.
Margie attended Williamsburg High School and was employed for 30 years with Oneita Knitting Mills. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her flowers. She loved baking and cooking. She enjoyed attending all types of sport events for her greatgrandchildren and had experienced some equestrian events.
She was a faithful member of Pine Crest Baptist Church. She served on several church committees. She was a choir member, nursey worker and Sunday school teacher for many years. Mrs. McCants was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Her faith in God sustained her throughout her life and recent illness.
The family would also like to give a special thank you to the nurses, doctors of Amedisys Hospice and Amedisys Home Health for their care during her illness.
Surviving are: two daughters, Marilyn M. Moore of Andrews, Debra M Taylor (Tony) of James Island; one brother, Carl M. Ray; grandchildren, Jeffrey A Moore Jr. (Angel) Summerville, Kristin M. Gaskins (William) Andrews, Tony Taylor, Jr. (Julie) Charleston, Ryan Taylor (Kenzie) Charleston; great grandchildren, Madison Gaskins, Maddox Gaskins, Manning Gaskins, Braelyn Smith-Moore, Taytum Moore, Tallen Taylor and Chase Taylor, great greatgrandchild; Brigston Woods Dunford; sister in law, Brenda M. Wildes, Verma M Dean, Betty B. Ray and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 18 at Pine Crest Baptist Church in Andrews, with burial to follow in Spring Gulley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
Memorials may be made to Pine Crest Baptist Church.
The Andrews Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
