Obituary

Memorial prayers will be said for Marion Jean LaBruce Hooper at Prince Fredericks Cemetery, Plantersville at 11:00 A.M. on August 12 , the anniversary of her death. Mrs. Hooper, born in Georgetown on October 9, 1924, attended Winyah Schools where she graduated with Honors in 1941. She received her Certificate in Commerce and BS degrees from Winthrop College and taught school in the Carolinas and Tennessee. She married Hugh A. Hooper on December 23, 1946 at Prince George Episcopal Church, and moved to Memphis, TN, where Hugh was employed as an Office Manager. Active in church work all her life, Jean studied theology at Memphis Theological Seminary and The University of the South. Following her husband's death in 1984, she served the Church for many years, including as Lay Minister of Bishop Otey Parish and Franklin Park Retirement Center in Memphis.
