Georgetown:
Marjorie Ambrose Holliday, 87, died Friday, October 3, 2008, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Holliday was born in Georgetown March 24, 1921, a daughter of the late Luther Rutherford Ambrose and Minnie Plexico Ambrose. She graduated as Valedictorian from Winyah High School and also was a graduate of Winthrop College. Mrs. Holliday was a former Postmaster of Plantersville Post Office and taught school in Columbia and Andrews for a time. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, the Francis Asbury Sunday School Class, the Discipleship Bible Study, and a member and former president of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Holliday was a founder of the Prison Ministry Inmate Fellowship and was a former board member of Florence United Methodist Home.
Mrs. Holliday was a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution, Winyah Chapter and the Georgetown Garden Club. She was a former member of the Board of Visitors of Winthrop College. Mrs. Holliday participated in the planning of the 250th Anniversary of Georgetown Celebration.
Mrs. Holliday was predeceased by a daughter, Marjorie Abigail Holliday and two brothers, J. Rudolph Ambrose and Luther Rutherford Ambrose.
Surviving are: her husband, Lawrence "Larry" E. Holliday of Pawleys Island; three sons, Lawrence E. Holliday, Jr. and his wife Robin and W. Ambrose Holliday and his wife Julie, all of Pawleys Island, and Dr. Joseph W. Holliday and his wife Janice of Greenville; a daughter, Margaret H. Carter and her husband Kirk of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Erin Holliday, Walker Holliday, Sally Holliday, Hayes Holliday, John Lawrence Holliday, Abbie Holliday, Lucy Carter and Maggie Carter.
Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2008, at three o'clock in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. G. Edward Usher. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Annex.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, October 5, 2008, from two until three o'clock in the Duncan Memorial United Church Parlor.
