Pawleys Island: Martha Jane Short Simpson, 40, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, in Whiteville, N. C. Mrs. Simpson was born December 4, 1968 in Norfolk, Va. a daughter of Carl W. Short and Alice Letherman Short. She grew up in Pawleys Island and was a graduate of Georgetown High School. Mrs. Simpson earned a business degree from the College of Charleston, a nursing degree from Horry-Georgetown Technical College, a Masters Degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a biology degree from the Mary Black School of Nursing. She was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with Columbus Regional Hospital in Whiteville. Surviving in addition to her parents of Pawleys Island are: her husband, Tony Simpson of Pawleys Island; two daughters, Lunden Simpson and Reid Simpson, both of Pawleys Island; a son, Joshua Simpson of Pawleys Island; a sister, Marie Graham of Pawleys Island; two half-sisters, Nancy Armstrong of Charleston and Beverly Ann Short of Fla.; and a half-brother, Carl Martin Short of Aurora, Col. Funeral services will be ten o'clock Friday morning, September 18, 2009, in Old All Saints Church. Officiating will be The Very Rev. Edward T. Kelaher. Burial will follow in All Saints Churchyard.
