Mary Elizabeth Fischer Campbell, 100, widow of George Campbell, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Mary Campbell was born in Cleveland, OH on March 26, 1921, a daughter of the late John T. Fischer and Elsie Ehmann Fischer. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's. Degree in English Literature. Gifted with numbers and a clear sense of business, Mary worked in accounting and administration for the Campbell Equipment Co. and Lachicotte Realty. She was active in local politics before retiring and moving to South Carolina. In the early 1980's she and George were Founding Members of Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys. She remained an active parishioner until her health slowed her down a few years ago.
Mary Campbell was a loving & inspiring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a loyal friend and neighbor. An avid reader- making weekly visits to her local library. Mary was also a gifted gardener, seamstress and talented needlepoint artist. One of her favorite daily pastimes was completing the NY Times Crossword Puzzle. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Campbell was predeceased by her sisters, Angela Campbell (Jack), Grace McFadden (John) and her brother, Jack Fischer.
Mary is survived by five sons, Terry Campbell (Sheila) of Bowling Green, OH; Tim Campbell (Jodi) of Cleveland, OH; Matt Campbell (Bridget) of Chicago, IL; Peter Campbell (Liz) of Hamilton NJ: Tom Campbell (Kim) of Cleveland, OH; her only daughter, Mary Ann Swalling (Chris) of Anchorage, AK; her sister Mickey Mayer (Dick) and fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and twenty nieces and nephews.
