Pawleys Island:
Mary Deane Lachicotte Johnson, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Tidelands Community Hospice House of Georgetown, surrounded by her family. She was born March 25, 1930 to the late Albert Springs "Captain Boo" Lachicotte, Sr. and Lucille Amanda Pitt Lachicotte of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Mary Deane received a B.S. Degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and a M. Ed. in Special Education from Georgia State University.
Mary Deane ran Lachicotte's Cassena Inn on Pawleys Island from 1980-1982. She was the director of The Joy School in Pawleys Island from 1985 and 1986. Mary Deane was the director of the Child Development Center in Georgetown from 1986-1990. She was a special education teacher for Decatur Public School system in Atlanta, Georgia from 1990-2000.
Mary Deane was preceded in death by: her former husband, Dr. Henry C. Johnson, Jr.; her sisters, Jane Lloyd Lachicotte and Lucille Lachicotte Spearman; and two brothers, Albert Springs Lachicotte, Jr. and The Rev. Saint Julian Lachicotte.
Mary Deane is survived by her daughter, Anne-Marie Johnson and partner, James McLean of Pawleys Island; son, David T. M. Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; grand daughter, Amanda Marie Warneck, husband, Brad; and great grandson, Riley Warneck, of Charleston; brother, George Pitt Lachicotte and his wife, Lucille, of Edisto Island; sisters, Ethel Lachicotte Boyle Ripley of Mt. Pleasant; and Eleanor Lachicotte Currin of Pensacola, FL; a sister-in-law, Althea M. Lachicotte of Atlantic Beach, FL; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, June 6, 2016, at 10:30 o'clock at The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral. Officiating will be The Very Rev. Father Gabriel Bullock, The Very Rev. Joseph Honeycutt, and Hieromonk Alexander Lisnichuk. Burial to follow at Twelve noon, All Saints Cemetery, 3560 Kings River Road, Pawleys Island, SC. A reception will follow at the Lachicotte family home on Lachicotte Drive, Pawleys Island, SC.
