Obituary

Georgetown: Mary Louise Collins Doyle, 87 of Georgetown, SC, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2010. She was born August 30, 1922 in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Dr. Okey Maxwell Staats and Josephine Fast Staats. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1944. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Stokes Collins, Jr. of Georgetown, her eldest son Herbert Maxwell Collins (Chip) and daughter-in-law Patricia Hamilton Collins (Patti), both of Winder, GA. She is survived by her devoted husband, Arthur Hazard Doyle of Georgetown, two sons, Francis Stokes Collins, III (Frank) and wife, Nancy of Mount Pleasant, SC, and David Morgan Collins of Georgetown. She was the grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mary was a longtime member of Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church where she was a choir member and on the Alter Guild. She was an accomplished pianist and a very avid supporter of the Arts. She was instrumental in bringing community concerts to Georgetown. She was very involved with Plantation Tours in and around the surrounding Georgetown area. She was a member of the Georgetown Garden Club and was a 4th generation member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a school teacher for many years in the Georgetown County Public School System. Relatives and friends of Mary are invited to attend her service on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
