Georgetown:

Mary Lou Ray Gilleland, 71, of Georgetown, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2023, at Lakes of Litchfield.

Mary Lou was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, SC. Mary Lou enjoyed helping with her church and volunteered for many functions. Mary Lou was an outstanding cook and prepared meals for others whom she loved and cared for. Mary Lou loved life and knew how to have fun. She was always happy and never met a stranger. She had a unique personality and she knew everyone and everyone loved her. Mary Lou loved her children and grandchildren; they were everything to her. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years.

She is survived by a son, David Gilleland (Alicia) of Georgetown, SC; a daughter, Tabitha Guider (Bobby) of Columbia, SC; brothers, Philip Ray (Ava) of Germany and Timmy Ray (Linda) of Darlington, SC; grandchildren, Loretta Leverett and Carrie Powell (Bo); great-grandchildren; Adalee Hockenberry, Baylor Leverett and Lathen Leverett, two nephews and eleven nieces.

Mary Lou Gilleland was predeceased by her parents Philip Ray and Lorraine Hanson Ray; a grandchild, Ellis Gilleland; and a brother, Michael Ray.

Visitation will be Friday October 06, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home Georgetown Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Saturday on October 07, 2023 at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to: Georgetown Presbyterian Church, St. Frances Animal Center, or Habitat for Humanity.

The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home is assisting the family with the care of Mary Lou Ray Gilleland.
