Obituary

Andrews: Mary L. Harper of Andrews died at her residence on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Miss Harper was born on February 25, 1922, a daughter of Samuel Paul Harper and Clara Montgomery Harper. She was an Episcopalian. Her work included a number of years in the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina and in the public schools of Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties. Miss Harper was one of the founding members of Old Town Museum. She was also instrumental in the development of the Head Start Program. Survivors include: a brother, John Paul Harper of West Point, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Ann (Mrs. Samuel M.) Harper of Andrews, "Jac" (Mrs. J. P.) Harper of West Point, Va., and Martha (Mrs. Keith) Harper of Georgetown; and seventeen nieces and nephews and their families. The youngest nephew, David McQueen Harper, his wife Christina, and their daughters Tracy Lynn and Claire Allyson, made their home with her. Memorial services will be at the graveside at Andrews Memorial Cemetery on Friday, October 30, 2009 at four o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. Manney M. Reid and the Rev. Philip Porcher.
