Pawleys Island: Mary Ruth Jones Mills died Oct. 18, 2011 at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. She was born on her grandfather Avra's farm in Quitman County, Georgia. Her education included a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from North Georgia College at Dahlonega. Further education was at University of Virginia and George Mason University, in Fairfax County Virginia. Among her occupations were teaching and computer programmer analyst. She was married in 1951 to George Ellis Mills. They had 3 children and, as a military family, they lived in Germany, Japan, and Hawaii and several military posts in the United States. Predeceasing her were: her parents, William Lamar Jones, Priscilla Avra Jones; and beloved grandson, Max Thomas Lamar Glazier. Surviving are: her children, Joseph Lamar Mills and wife Carmel, George Edmond Mills and his wife Joan, and Laura Jean Mills Glazier and her husband Michael Glazier; grandchildren, Marco Ellis Mills, Kimberly and Mark Mills, Joyce and John Gasper, Taylor and Mary Glazier; sisters, Sarah Jean Jones Fishbourne, Willie Lamar Jones Spangenberg; and brother, Fred Morrow Jones.
