Georgetown:
Mary Evelyn Weaver Scott, 96, widow of William Francis Scott, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. Scott was born in Effingham, on August 16, 1922, a daughter of the late John McNair Weaver and Maude Edith Evans Weaver. She worked for Fogel's Department Store and Mildred's Dress Shop for a number of years before retiring. Mrs. Scott became a full time mother and homemaker to her loving husband, children and grandchildren (who called her Nanny). Mrs. Scott was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and a former member of Wayne United Methodist Church, where she was very active and sang in the choir. She was a wonderful seamstress and very artistic at so many things. Mrs. Scott was an avid gardener and won "Yard of the Month", when she lived in Maryville. She was very humorous and had a wonderful life, which she enjoyed, and was loved by all.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Scott is predeceased by: a son, William James Scott.
Surviving are: two sons, F. Roland "Rod" Scott (Beth ) of Lexington, and Robert C. Scott (Anne) of Georgetown; two daughters, Carol Scott Cribb (Bob) ofGeorgetown and Helen Scott Ethridge ( )of Georgetown; eight grandchildren, Allison S. Peters, Kimberly Bracy, Lindsey Jacobs, Chris and Gina Ethridge, and Charles, Katie and Caroline Scott; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be two o'clock Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Mary Green. Burial will follow in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home prior to the service from one until two o'clock.
