Georgetown:
Mary Pope Sikes, 85, died Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Kingston Nursing Center in Conway.
Mrs. Sikes was born in Upper Georgetown Co. on August 10, 1924, a daughter of the late John Marion Pope and Mollie Caroline Goude Pope. She attended the Pleasant Hill Schools. Mrs. Sikes retired as a cafeteria operator in1993 from the Georgetown County School system, having worked in the cafeterias of Winyah, Howard, and McDonald schools. She was a member of Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church and served her church as a Sunday School teacher for many year. Mrs. Sikes was also a member of the Women's Ministry of the church.
Survivors are: a number of nephews including, Malcolm Pope (Fran) of Socastee; and a niece, Patty S. Avant of Georgetown.
Mrs. Sikes was predeceased by: her husband, Harry Tracy Sikes; and a daughter, Janice Lynn Sikes.
Funeral services will be at eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, December 30, 2009, at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Tommy Cox and the Rev. David Coker. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Annex.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from ten until eleven.
