IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Lou
Sturkie
June 7, 1935 – November 26, 2022
Georgetown;
Mary Lou Singleton Sturkie went to meet our lord and savior on November 26, 2022 after a brief illness.
Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Arnette and Eva Singleton. She was born in Conway, SC but called Georgetown her home.
She was a dress maker and had her own clothing label. Mary Lou was a larger than life mom, grandmother, aunt, and friend. When the kids were small she enjoyed being a den mother for the Cub Scouts, and a Brownie leader. The Sturkie's enjoyed camping when her children were growing up. They would go camping with the neighborhood kids and would bring their little bags with a full truck load of camping gear, Rocky White, Ray Cribb, and Jeff Altman and a slew of other kids who would go camping with the Sturkie family. Later in our mom's life, she enjoyed a good yard sale and an auction. She and her best friend Frankie Hilburn would hit the road. They would head out going to an auction and end up in the mountains. Don't say not to go because they were like rebellious children, they would do it or die. They always brought back stuff they did not need but it was a deal.
She is survived by her Children, Charles Sturkie (Melody) Norma Sturkie Rubin (Louis) Tracy Padgett and Lisa Knight (Clint)
Mrs. Sturkie loved her Grandchildren more than life, surviving include: Corey Sturkie, Bryce Sturkie, Kyla S. Brown (Bennett), Casey Padgett (Kelby) Ethan Padgett (Brianna) Joel Edge (Lindsey) Mindy Woods (Jason) Gregory Gunter, Chip Jordan and TJ Winn; Great Grands: Collin Edge, Lynnley Brown, Chloe, Wolfren, Grace Sturkie and Lisa Marie Gunter.
Mrs. Sturkie is predeceased by her husband Norman Sturkie, two sons;Tommy Sturkie, Glenn Sturkie and a grandaughter Trina Dilworth.
Memorial Services will be one o'clock Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Georgetown Assembly of God. Officiating will be the Rev. Johnny Poston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Social Hall from twelve until one o'clock.
