Mattie Deola McAlister Cumbie, 85, widow of Bobby Rhem Cumbie, Sr. died December 17, 2022, at McLeod Reginal Medical Center in Florence.

Mrs. Cumbie was born in Williamsburg County on October 28, 1937, a daughter of the late William Wright McAlister and Mary Rowena Powell McAlister.

Mrs. Cumbie grew up in the Sandy Bay Community of Williamsburg County, after marring Mr. Cumbie they moved to the Warsaw Community near Andrews. She was a member of Warsaw Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught the Children's Church for many years. Mrs. Cumbie was a devoted Christian and it showed by the love she had for her family and friends. Mrs. Cumbie had many talents, cooking, canning of vegetables, and was great at crossword puzzles and love to color. Her greatest accomplishment was her wonderful family, and most of all her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cumbie was predeceased by: three sons, Richard, D.W. and Dennis Cumbie; two brothers, Carl and Charles McAlister; two sisters, Ann McAlister Dukes and Libby McAlister Matthews.

Surviving are: a son, Bobby Rhem Cumbie (Pam) of Andrews; a brother, Billy McAlister (Jeanett) of Sandy Bay, a sister Rose Carraway of Lamar; three grandchildren, Lance Cumbie (Ashley) of Andrews, Eric Cumbie (Sumer) and Dustin Cumbie (Kassi) both of Aynor; seven great-grands, Marley, Kyler, Kennedy, Kasen, Kellan, Emma and Kash Cumbie; and one on the way, Klaire.

Funeral Services will be two o'clock Monday, December 19, 2022, in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Officiating will be the Rev. Joe Lambert. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service in the Mausoleum from one until two o'clock.
