Andrews:
Melva Hanna Taylor, 86, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Williamsburg County near Andrews on May 8, 1917, a daughter of the late Prudence Hanna. She lived in the Piney Forest community most of her life. Mrs. Taylor was Woman of the Year for Woodman of the World. She was a member of Piney Forest Baptist Church and was secretary and treasurer of the Woman's Missionary Union for many years. Mrs. Taylor was the widow of Daniel Wesley Taylor.
Surviving are: three sons, David W. Taylor of Johnsonville, Darious W. Taylor of Rural Hall, N.C., and Dan W. Taylor of Andrews; four daughters, Jeanette T. Mixon and Elsie T. Cumbie, both of Andrews, and Bunny T. McKenzie and Dorothy T. Watford, both of Kingstree; twenty-four grandchildren; and thirty-nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning, March 18, 2004, at eleven o'clock at Piney Forest Baptist Church. Officiating will be The Rev. James L. May. Burial will follow in Piney Forest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, March 17, 2004, from seven until nine o'clock at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
