Obituary

Georgetown: Mildred George Ballard, 95, wife of the late Gerald S. Ballard, Sr., passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Prince George Healthcare. Mrs. Ballard was born on August 22, 1921, in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of the late William Pierce George and Birdie Kirk George. She was a graduate of Knoxville High School and Knoxville Business College. Mrs. Ballard came to Georgetown as a new bride. She worked in the Customer Service Department for International Paper Company until retirement. Mrs. Ballard was a faithful member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Francis Asbury Sunday School class, and volunteered her service to the church for many years. Surviving are: a son; G. Stuart Ballard, Jr. (Jan) of Andrews; two grandsons; Brent S. Ballard (Melissa) and Mark M. Ballard (Ali), both of Georgetown; "GG" was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Emily, Griffin, Kelsey and Brenna Ballard; a niece, Millie Burch; a sister in-law, Edith George; and a number of nieces and nephews by marriage. Funeral Services will be four o'clock Sunday afternoon, July 23, 2017, at the graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford.
