We regret to announce that Mildred Braswell Smith passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. She was born on May 15, 1938 in Atlanta, Georgia, and was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Reuben Braswell, her brother, Lane Braswell, and her grandson, William Wakefield Nunnally.

Mildred was an alumnus of Agnes Scott College, having graduated in 1960. She was an active member of Duncan United Methodist Church and also participated in book and bridge clubs in Debourdieu Colony.

She is survived by her husband, Wilson Wakefield Smith; her children, Ann Smith Nunnally (Bruce) from Fairview, TX, Thomas Wakefield Smith (Tamara) from Fayetteville, AR, and Barbara Lynn Burch (Marcus) from Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Ian Burch (Charissa), Eleanor Burch, Harrison Smith (Stephanie), Julia Smith, Mason Smith, and Andrew Nunnally; and one great-grandchild, River Smith-Barger, son of Harrison and Stephanie.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Saturday, January 13 in the parlor of Duncan United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 in the church sanctuary.

The family requests that memorials be made to Duncan United Methodist Church, 901 Highmarket St., Georgetown, SC 29440.
