Obituary

Pawleys Island: Midge Wigington passed away February 6th, 2016 at Tidelands Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet. She was a resident of The Lakes at Litchfield for the past eight years prior to her death and formerly lived in Gainesville, FL. Born in Morristown, TN on September 22, 1920, she was the daughter of R.L. McGimpsey and Myrtle Siler McGimpsey. She graduated from Morristown High School and worked for the government in Washington, DC during the early stages of World War II. Midge was married to her childhood sweetheart Everett Eugene Wigington at the Pensacola Naval Air Station immediately after he was commissioned as a naval officer/aviator on February 11th, 1944. During their almost seventy-two years of marriage they lived in many locations in the United States and in the Pacific as a result of his naval career. Upon his retirement from the Navy they lived in Gainesville, FL and Gene was employed as a professor and administrator at Santa Fe College. They moved to Pawleys Island in 2008. She is survived by her husband and was predeceased by her parents and two older sisters Lenoir Feldpausch of Hastings, MI and Mary Carolyn Waddell of Knoxville, TN.
