Georgetown:
Minnie Powers Jacobs, 100, died Saturday, February 28, 2004, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Jacobs was born in the Carver's Bay section of Georgetown County on May 8, 1903, a daughter of the late George Powers and Molly Rowe Powers. She was a member of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Jacobs retired in 1966 after twenty-one years employment with the Container Division of International Paper Company.
Surviving are: two sons, DeLeon Jacobs and Cleon Jacobs, both of Georgetown; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jacobs was predeceased by: her husband, Penniman Roosevelt Jacobs; a son, Daniel P. Jacobs; two daughters, Mollie J. Lomax and Myrtle J. Poole; two brothers, Charlie Powers and Rushell Powers; three sisters, Agnes Powers, Druscilla P. Rowe, and Louisa P. Moore.; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be four o'clock Monday afternoon, March 1, 2004, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Raymond Owens, the Rev. Wayne Elliott, and the Rev. Chris Marsh. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Annex.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from three until four prior to the service.
