Huger:
Minnie Lou Sides McCoon, 67, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at home.
Mrs. McCoon was born in Georgetown on September 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Cecil Leroy Sides and Anner Blanche High Sides. She graduated from Winyah High School. Mrs. McCoon moved to Charleston in 1976 and then to Huger in 1988. She was employed with Puerto Rican Marine Management Corp. and other steamship companies for a number of years. She attended Gourdines Chapel Church.
Surviving are: her husband, Stuart J. McCoon of Huger; three sons, William Rhodus "Chuck" Ward, III of Huger, Kevin Leroy Ward of Andrews and Daniel W. McCoon of Kinston, N.C.; three daughters, Rhonda Moore-Smith of Mt. Pleasant, and Lisa A. Thomas and Roxy J. McCoon, both of Summerville; a brother, Don Sides of Fletcher, N.C.; a sister, Betty Thomas of Oklahoma City, Ok.; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McCoon was predeceased by her first husband, William Rhodus Ward, Jr.
Funeral services will be on Saturday afternoon, October 9, 2004, at Gourdines Chapel Church near Andrews at two o'clock. Officiating will be The Rev. Themos Cribb and The Rev. Jason Wilson. Burial will follow at the Ward Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, October 8, 2004, from six until eight o'clock at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
