Pawleys Island:
Miriam McConnell Servant, 91, widow of E. J. Servant, Jr., died Friday, March 2, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Servant was born in McDonald, Pa. at the "Oaks" on May 3, 1920, a daughter of the late Harry and Isabelle Conklin McConnell. She attended nursing school in Pittsburg, Pa. and served her country as a nurse in the Navy during World War II. Upon moving to S.C. in 1962, Mrs. Servant and her husband founded Surfside Realty Co., and she worked there until her retirement in 1984. She was a founding member of the Surfside Methodist Church and served as the choir director and organist for ten years. During the past twenty years, she has been a member of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member of the church choir.
Mrs. Servant had many outside interests, including painting, and she displayed many of her works with the Georgetown Water Color Society. Her other interests included travelling and golf.
She is survived by: her daughter, Linda Cox (Lofton); her son, E. J. Servant, III (Judy); and three grandchildren, Richard Cox (Lauren), Miles Servant, and J. Tyler Servant.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Churchyard. Officiating will be the Rev. Frank S. Holsclaw and the Rev. B. Mike Alexander.
