Obituary

Georgetown: Morris Patterson Ferris (Pat) went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2018. He was born at Greenwood Lake, New York on November 15, 1921 to his parents, Elizabeth Morris Ramsay Ferris, and Van Wyck Ferris. Pat was in the Coast Guard and served in the Pacific during WWII. After the war, Pat graduated with a degree in Business at the University of North Carolina. He married Anne Fowler Ferris and moved to Georgetown. He and Anne had a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Ferris. He opened the Ferris Real Estate Agency in downtown Georgetown. They attended Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church where Pat was a member of the Vestry and an active communicant for 64 years. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Nature Conservancy and the Rotary Club. Pat was an avid outdoorsman: hunting, fishing, shrimping, gathering oysters, gardening, and sailing. After twenty-two years as a widower, he married Vikky Svedberg. For ten years they enjoyed fishing, traveling, attending supper club, and their home Bible study. Surviving are his wife, Vikky Svedberg Ferris, her daughter, Sharon Gentry and granddaughter, Malyn Elizabeth Grygielko; his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Ferris, (John B. Dawson Jr), grandsons, John Baker Dawson III (Wendy), Ramsay Ferris Dawson (Kathy), and great grandchildren, Harmon Elizabeth Dawson, Katelyn Anne Dawson, John Baker Dawson IV, and Kilian Ferris Dawson, a sister-in-law, Mary Rob Ferris and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Pat's life will be on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. at Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church at 300 Broad Street. An interment will follow, and guest are invited to a reception in the church parish hall. The Reverend David Thurlow will be officiating. Sign a guest book at www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
