IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Jane
Corrigall
October 14, 1936 – May 19, 2025
Nancy J. Corrigall, 88, died peacefully at home on May 19, 2025, after a long illness.
Born on October 14, 1936, in Bellevue PA, she was the daughter of the late John Dillard White and Elizabeth Lenore Buirgy.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Tara Corrigall, Virginia Beach VA, daughter Mona (Michael) Filchock, Charlotte NC, son Ian (Kathy) Corrigall, Purcellville VA, grandchildren Jordan (Kevin) Hennessy, Charlotte NC, Amanda (fiancé Hudson Panek) Filchock, New York, NY, Josh Filchock, Charlotte NC and great-grandchildren Colin and Palmer, Charlotte NC. Her husband, Keith Corrigall, passed away in 2000.
Nancy grew up in Michigan and was a proud Michigan State graduate. She and Keith were high school sweethearts, and her sense of adventure started early as his career took them to Colorado, Montana, Alaska, California, Montana (again) and the Washington DC area. After deciding on a small town near water, they retired to Georgetown SC in 1996.
Nancy's teenage job was in a flower shop and her love of flowers and plants became a recurring influence on her life and career. She worked at several flower shops and later became an urban agriculture agent for Fairfax County Virginia – focusing on environmental issues and community farmers markets. With every move, Nancy sought volunteer community opportunities. She was a past member of the AAUW and the Junior League. She was an active member and past president of the Georgetown SC Garden Club. She was an active member of the Winyah Chapter of DAR and served in various leadership positions over the years. She was also an active member of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church and in 2023 she proudly received honorary lifetime membership in Presbyterian Women. She was also a founding friend of the South Carolina Maritime Museum.
An avid traveler, Nancy toured the world – visiting all 7 continents and always tried to include native gardens in her tours. She was fascinated by people and cultures.
We would like to thank The Key caregivers and Amedisys Hospice nurses and aides for their thoughtful care, empathy and support to Nancy over these last months.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and we will miss her terribly.
A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at Georgetown Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00am. A reception will follow the service where family and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the South Carolina Maritime Museum , 729 Front Street Georgetown SC 29440.
The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home is assisting the family.
